WHAT IS REBIRTHING? A BREATHING PRACTICE FROM THE WORLD OF YOGA

Rebirthing is a breathing psychotechnique created in the early 1970s in the United States by Leonard Orr.

At the time of its creation, rebirthing's goal was to experience birth and release birth trauma. His basic ideas are that every person experiences birth trauma during the birth process. By breathing in a certain way, a person enters altered states of consciousness and can release repressed experiences, realise and heal them.

Modern rebirthing claims to be able to release repressed negative experiences regardless of when they occurred.

Rebirthing is a healthy alternative to all psychotropic tripping, egregore meditations and working with a mediator.

We can refer to Castaneda's notes, where in the first two volumes he forces his hero to spend because of his experience of ayvaska with a shaman, because of his exclusively material perception of the world.

*Ayvaska is a ceremony of ‘communing with the spirits’, using a decoction from a liana tree to purify the body and mind; one goes through a 6-7 hour trip;

It was important for the hero to show that the world is not as unambiguous as it seems. There is something in it that is inaccessible to our normal level of sensory awareness.

And such a psychotrip on natural ingredients allowed to expand human consciousness in the shortest possible time and stop all ideas from the category: it can't be.

If you assume that there is something else beyond our perception, then rebirthing will be the best option:

  • without intermediaries

  • without psychotropic substances

  • without a rigid cleansing of the body

  • with a step-by-step entrance and approach to the cosmic state.

  • up to 60 minutes and the possibility to leave the practice at any moment, being conscious and adequate.

During the first practices your body and consciousness may feel:

  • chills

  • fever

  • pain in some parts of the body (carpopedal spasms)

  • sensation of tightness of muscles in certain parts of the body

  • twisting of the toes (tetany)

  • facial muscle activity (clamps)

  • desire to bend or spread the legs

  • pain in certain parts of the body

  • background ‘thudding’ sound (like a radio wave)

  • bright coloured flashes

  • concrete situations, long ago events from the past

  • a picture of an alternative development of your life

  • some important realisations/insight that you needed

  • a cosmos where you are everything and everything is you (samadhi experience).

These are the stages that the body, psyche and Spirit go through.
