Alternating breathing with left and right nostrils

One of the breathing exercises is ‘Alternating Left and Right Nostril Breathing’:

Take a breath in through the left nostril and exhale through the right nostril, then take a breath in through the right nostril and exhale through the left nostril. Repeat this cycle three to nine times. Try to keep your breathing as deep as possible, but just enough to make you feel comfortable while doing so.

You can pause after the breath or combine the inhale and exhale, as in connected breathing.

Goraknath says that this exercise alone is enough to keep the body in a constant flow of vital energy necessary for immortality if practised every day and reciting the mantra Om Namah Shivaya. This exercise helps to purify the hopefuls, the special organs located in the nostrils that direct energy to all the organs of the body."
